According to new research, sitting for more than 6 hours a day is not just bad for your back – it also increases the risk of heart disease and diabetes.Sitting for hours a day affects our breathing, our digestion and every aspect of our health. It challenges the innate physical and metabolic functions of the human body and it can cause a multitude of problems, including back and neck dysfunction, carpal tunnel syndrome and pelvic floor dysfunction.
Our sedentary lifestyles are also bad for our brains. When the body is inactive and especially when it is sitting, the brain cannot be fully engaged and it is much more difficult to stay focused.
We need to fidget and stretch, twist and turn, walk, stand and move more in general. You need to do a Pilates class of course!
